OUR EXPERTISE
WHERE EXPERTISE MEETS MASTERY
Freezing Spray
Hazard
Through meticulous navigation, our Ice navigators avoid freezing spray effect, preventing ice accretion on the vessel's superstructure, ensuring hatch covers, both anchors, windlass forecastle are always free of Ice & the ship can made fast and open hatch on arrival at the next port.
Winter Checklist
Procedure
To review preparations prior to transit, our ice navigators always conduct a compulsory meeting with the Captain, Chief Engineer, Chief Officer, and Bosun to ensure the vessel's readiness for navigation in extreme cold weather conditions. This meeting follows our winter checklist, sent to the Captains before the transit begins. The checklist consists of 47 points covering various aspects such as the precautionary measures for the cooling system, fireline, ballast tanks, engine rooms, mooring equipment, accommodation, and deck safety measures. It is imperative that all parties involved thoroughly understand and adhere to these checklist items.
Port Captain Advisory
Standards
As Port Captain, we ensure our client's vessel is equipped with the necessary tools to handle extreme cold weather, allowing the crew to clean the cargo holds efficiently and cost-effectively between ports. We oversee the crew's work to ensure the cleaning is done correctly, within the optimal weather window, and in full compliance with Transport Canada standards, securing the certificate of cleanliness on time.
